29-year-old female security guard in custody over stabbing death of male colleague during row

An investigation has been launched into the murder of 63-year-old security guard, Paul Devonish. He died on Tuesday night after being stabbed by one of his colleagues, 29-year-old Nicosie Clement.

Both security guards were attached to the Sheriff Security company.

A Police report stated that the incident took place in the Barrack Street area in Kingston.

According to that report, earlier in the day, the 63-year-old man had slapped an 18-year-old security guard at a work location after the teenager objected to him grabbing the cellphone away from another security who was on duty.

The teen reportedly went to his mother to complain about the incident at another worksite, and was on his way back to retrieve his belongings in the company of his colleague, Nicosie Clement, when they came face to face with the 63-year-old man and a confrontation ensued between them.

The Police statement indicated that a scuffle ensued between the 63-year-old man and the 29-year-old woman, and it was during that scuffle that the woman pulled out a knife from her pocket and stabbed the man to his left thigh.

He reportedly started to bleed profusely and collapsed onto the roadway. The alleged murder weapon was thrown into a nearby trench as the woman and the teenager left the scene.

The injured man, Paul Devonish, was taken to the Georgetown Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The suspect was later arrested at the home of her teenage security colleague.

She is expected to face charges before the end of the week.
