Alleged East Bank Demerara robbers nabbed after attack on Security guard

Three men who have emerged as suspects in an East Bank Demerara robbery have been arrested by the Police and are likely to face criminal charges as early as Friday.

According to a Police statement, the three were part of a group of four persons who held a security guard at gunpoint and robbed him.

The incident took place at around 11pm on Wednesday night at Craig on the East Bank of Demerara.

A police report of incident revealed that the security guard was walking along the roadway, when the four men emerged from a car that pulled up alongside him and stopped.

One of the robbers held the man at gunpoint while the others relieved him of his belongings, which included a briefcase, a 20-point diamond, a gold chain, three mobile phones, and a Guyana passport and birth certificate.

The suspects escaped in the waiting car, but the victim filed a report immediately.

The Police said that based on information it received, the car was intercepted with three of the suspects.

The three have been identified as 24-year-old Andy Budhan, 29-year-old Daniel Singh, and 23-year-old Michael Patraj. A number of the stolen items were recovered from the three suspects.

The Police said all three suspects live in the Grove, East Bank Demerara area.

They have all been arrested and questioned about the robbery and the missing accomplice.

The car has also been taken into custody by the Police. The probe is ongoing.
