Berbice resident Andrew Samuel Sealey has been taken into custody by the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit after he was busted on Tuesday with more than three and a half kilograms of marijuana in his possession.
The 29-year-old man was arrested in New Amsterdam with a large bag carrying five parcels of marijuana.
The man and his marijuana were both taken to CANU headquarters in Georgetown where he was booked on a drug trafficking charge. CANU said the seized marijuana carries a street value of $3.5 million.
The suspect is expected in Court before the end of the week.
CANU has issued a call on citizens to contact the agency once they are aware of illegal activities occurring in their neighbourhoods.
The Unit has started a major push to rid communities across the country of drug trafficking.
