A Brazilian national who claimed that he came to Guyana to visit his mother, will be spending some extra time in the Co-operative Republic, but as a guest of the state.

23-year-old, Joao Figueroa, was remanded to jail today after being charged for illegal ammunition possession.

The man, who is a construction worker, was allegedly caught on the 7th November in the Central Rupununi area with a cartridge for a 20-gauge shotgun.

He was immediately arrested and charged for illegal possession of ammunition.

After listening to the facts of the case, the Brazilian national was remanded to jail until December 5, 2017 and will make his next court appearance in the Lethem area.
