Couple charged for possession of 125 lbs of marijuana in gas bottles

A husband and wife found themselves before the Chief Magistrate yesterday facing marijuana possession and trafficking charges.

The two, Colin Denny and Malika Softleigh, were allegedly busted two weeks ago with over 125 pounds of marijuana in their possession for the purpose of trafficking.

They were granted bail to the sum of $400,000 each and told that they will have to report to a police station every Friday as part of the condition for the bail.

The Attorney for the couple, James Bond, told the Court that the marijuana does not belong to his clients but rather it is another relative who is trying to implicate them in the story.

But the Police Prosecutor explained to the Court that that the more than 100 pounds of marijuana was found stashed in empty gas bottles in the couple’s home.

He objected to bail, but the Magistrate granted bail and ordered that the two return to court on December 18.
