Ex-cop sentenced to four years in jail for cocaine trafficking

Dublin was searched during the sting operation and had named two other men as the persons who provided him with the cocaine. The two men were also charged initially, but the case against the two men were dismissed as the evidence linking them to the narcotics could not be proven.

A former member of the Guyana Police Force, who found himself on the other side of the law, will be spending the next four years in jail after being found guilty of cocaine trafficking.

Ex-policeman Louis Dublin was today sentenced by Magistrate Leron Daly on the completion of the trial.

He was arrested and charged back in March 2017 after 558 grams of cocaine pellets were found in a bag at the Lotus Restaurant near the airport. The bag was in the possession of the policeman.

The two men were also charged initially, but the case against the two men was dismissed as the evidence linking them to the narcotics could not be proven. 

The ex-cop will begin his sentence immediately.
