A Linden man and his young grandson have been confirmed dead in an accident that occurred along the Soesdyke-Linden highway this afternoon.
The dead man has been identified as former national footballer, Carlyle Hunte of Rainbow City, Linden. The identity of the dead child has been given as Malique Roberts.
However, two other grand children who survived the smash-up have been admitted to the Mackenzie Hospital in a serious condition.
Reports indicate that the grandfather, Carlyle Hunte, was the driver of the car that was involved in the smash-up with a wood carrying truck. It is suspected that Hunte, who was heading to Linden, might have lost control and slammed into the truck, resulting in his car flipping over several times.
The car was recently purchased and was still carrying trader plates. Investigations are ongoing.
