Linden man remanded for murder over fire deaths of sister and niece

33-year-old Linden resident, Akali Moore, was charged and remanded to jail today for the murder of his sister, Cheryl Moore and his niece, 12-year-old Eikiela Adams.

The two died in a fire at their Silvertown, Wismar home that was reportedly set by the 33-year-old man.

In Court today, the accused was not required to enter a plea to the indictable murder charge.

He will make his next Court appearance in early September.

Moore was arrested by the Police moments after he allegedly set fire to his family home and ran from the scene. His relatives were reportedly sleeping at the time.

While an alarm was raised and most of them made it out, the aunt and her niece got trapped and died in the inferno.

Family members said the man would always threaten his sister, but he was not taken seriously at most times, since they believe he suffered from a mental condition.
