A 24-year-old man from Moruca was today remanded to jail for the chopping death of one of his own sisters.

The accused, Randy Cozier, was not required to enter a plea to the indictable murder charge.

According to the Prosecution’s case, on the 3rd of July, the accused visited the home of his sister Cynthia Cozier and got into an argument with her and another sister over threats that he was making against their children.

During the argument, the young man armed himself with two cutlasses and attacked the two sisters. An 8-year-old child was also injured during the attack.

The two sisters were rushed to a community hospital with multiple chop wounds. One of the sisters, Cynthia, was pronounced dead while the other is still nursing multiple injuries.

The assailant had escaped from the scene but was eventually arrested by Police.

He will return to Court in August for the continuation of the murder case. Charges related to the injuries of the other sister and the young child are also expected to be filed against him.
