Albouystown resident and market vendor, 24-year-old Wendez Pompey was charged and remanded to jail today, one day after he was busted with 2.5 lbs cocaine in his possession.
In Court this morning, Pompey pleaded not guilty to the charge after it was read to him. He was refused bail and remanded to jail until the 21st February when the matter is expected to continue.
The 24-year-old was nabbed in a mini-bus ion the North Ruimveldt area on Thursday while ranks from the Customs Anti Narcotics Unit were conducting an operation in the area.
CANU said its ranks intercepted a mini-bus and a package containing the cocaine was discovered in the bus. The accused was immediately arrested and taken into custody.
The CANU operation was triggered by information that it had received.
