Ogunseye likely to appear in Court today to face incitement charges

WPA Executive Chairman and longtime political activist, Tacuma Ogunseye is expected in Court as early as today, to face incitement charges after spending the weekend behind bars.

Mr. Ogunseye turned himself over to investigators on Friday morning, one day after a wanted bulletin was issued for his arrest.  Once in custody, he exercised his right to remain silent during questioning by the Police investigators.

He was not granted any station bail, and was held a the Brickdam lockups for the entire weekend. On Facebook, his Attorney Nigel Hughes raised concern about police officers video recording the Attorneys inside the Police station when they turned up to meet with Mr. Ogunseye.

The WPA executive is accused of racial incitement over statements he made at a Buxton public meeting about the need for political resistance in Guyana that should involve the joint services.

He has been heavily criticized over the statements, but his party, the WPA continues to stand by his side.  The party said the move to arrest and charge him, is all political.
