Early morning operation unearths $295M in marijuana and weapons on abandoned farm

More than $295 million worth of marijuana plants and seeds were discovered early this morning during a Police operation in the Upper Berbice river area.

The Police said the marijuana farm was found with 35,000 marijuana plants and 40 pounds of marijuana seeds.

A search was conducted at the farm by the Police, and they also discovered a twelve-gauge shotgun, along with cartridges.

According to a Police report, investigators went to a nearby area, where a man was spotted running from a house and into the bushes. A group of Police ranks gave chase, but the man managed to make good his escape.

At the abandoned house, another shot gun was discovered along with components for two other firearms.

The Police also found several parcels of marijuana. The weapons were confiscated and transferred to the Central Police station, along with the seized marijuana.

Investigations are ongoing.
