Prisoner remanded for murder of fellow inmate

23-year-old prisoner, Shamar Davis, was remanded to jail today for the murder of a fellow inmate, Anthony Prince.

The murder charge comes two months after Anthony Prince was stabbed to death in the Lusignan jail. The murder accused, Shamar Davis, who was on remand for a robbery charge, was not required to enter a plea to the indictable murder charge today.

In Court today, the Police Prosecutor informed the Court that the two young men were housed in the same jail cell at the Lusignan jail, and on the 30th March, the two men got into a fight in their cell.

It was during that altercation, that it is alleged that David armed himself with an improvised weapon, and repeatedly stabbed Anthony Prince, who was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The murder accused will make his next Court appearance in June.
