A 21-year-old porter has been remanded to jail over the gruesome murder of a man in the interior mining region.
The accused, Clinton Allen, appeared in Court today and was not required to enter a plea to the indictable murder charge.
Police investigators said he confessed to the murder of Rodwell Joseph at Kamarang Landing in the Mazaruni area between May 30 and 31.
According to the Prosecutor, the two men were friends for a long time but became bitter rivals following a disagreement months ago.
The feud between them was reportedly reignited this past weekend and following a drinking spree, it is alleged that the accused attacked the other man and stabbed him repeatedly to the neck with a broken bottle during a fight.
The accused was later apprehended and allegedly admitted to the murder. He was later charged. He has been remanded to jail until the continuation of the matter in July.
