PNC Central Executive Committee agrees for probe into removal of Computer CPU at Congress Place

The Central Executive Committee (CEC) of the People’s National Congress, has ordered an external probe into the unauthorized removal of Central Processing Unit (CPU) of a main computer system from the party’s General Secretary’s office.

The CPU which was found in another office at the party’s head office, contains critical data pertaining to the party’s membership.

The disappearance of the CPU, was a highly contested topic at the party’s CEC meeting this week.

Some members of the Executive raised concerns about the sudden disappearance of the CPU in light of upcoming party internal elections.

During a press conference yesterday, Party Chairman, Shurwayne Holder said the issue of the CPU was simply one of miscommunication.

“This issue was a non-issue to start with, unfortunately, there were those in the public who unfortunately out to make mischief, because, the PNC is a Democratic Party and so people will always be out there to target our reputation since we are in this contest right now to take government from the People’s Progressive Party, so any little issue that they can find to put in the mind of persons about this or that is wrong with the PNC, they will do it,” Holder said,

Due to the concerns raised by party members and leaders, Holder said a decision was taken to have an external expert have a look at the CPU to ensure it was not tampered with.

“It was an issue relating to communication and so the party, all and sundry at the leadership level understands what exactly transpired and in addition, we have taken a decision to have an outside person, an external expert, run some check to ensure that the integrity of the information is intact and so we will take it from there,” the party Chairman said.

Mr. Holder said the matter has been properly ventilated before the party’s highest decision making body and for now, until the investigation is completed, it has been put to rest.
