The Guyana Police Force has reported that one of its own senior officers, Superintendent Karl Wilson, is facing two sexual assault charges.

Wilson appeared in Court on Wednesday where the sexual assault charges were read to him. He pleaded not guilty to the two charges, and was granted bail in the sum of $75,000 on each of the charges.

The senior Police Officer has been under probe for more than three months after a male junior police rank complained of being sexually assaulted on two occasions by the senior officer. The Guyana Police Force in an earlier incident stated that it was treating the complaint seriously. The alleged incidents reportedly occurred at the Georgetown seawall.

The senior officer was most recently stationed at the Criminal Investigations Department of the Guyana Police Force. He is expected to return to Court on the 16th October for the continuation of the case.
