Suddie pensioner remanded to jail for gun and ammo possession

A 72-year-old man from Suddie on the Essequibo Coast was remanded to prison on Monday after he was charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition without a license.

The accused, George Aubrey Archer, appeared at the Charity Magistrates’ Court where the two charges were read to him.

He pleaded not guilty to both charges.

The Prosecutor explained to the Court that the pensioner was held last Thursday at Onderneeming on the Essequibo Coast with a .32 Taurus pistol and a magazine with 12 live .32 rounds of ammunition.

The presiding Magistrate remanded the accused to prison until later this month for an update.
