Police investigators in Region Eight are probing the shooting death of 28-year-old Venezuelan national Rosemarie Torres and the injuring of her friend Elianny Perozo.

The incident took place on Friday afternoon and a businessman in the same area who is known to the two women is the main suspect who remains on the run.

According to reports, after an earlier argument and threats, Rosemarie Torres armed herself with a cutlass and fired several missed shots at the suspect, whose name has since been given as Linden Fordyce of Wismar Linden.

The man at first started to pelt at the woman, forcing her and some of her friends to retreat to a bushy area.

Moments later, the man was seen riding his motorcycle in the same direction and one of the women said he was armed with a shot gun and opened fire on them.

Rosemarie Torres who operated a shop in the area died from her injuries while the other woman was taken to a hospital with gunshot wounds.

The suspect escaped from the scene and has not been seen since.

The probe into the murder is continuing.
