One week after the Government eased some of the Coronavirus restrictions, the country has recorded 107 new cases of the disease in a single day.
In a statement from the Ministry of Health this afternoon, 107 new cases were recorded as of midnight Thursday and that takes the number of active cases in the country to 802.
68 of the 107 new cases are from Region 7.
The increase in new cases came as the country also recorded another Coronavirus related death, the third in two days.
The death toll in the country now stands at 180.
In the National Assembly on Thursday, Health Minister Dr. Frank Anthony was questioned about the rising number of new cases and whether the government was contemplating a lockdown to stem the spread.
The Health Minister said there is no consideration of any national lockdown at this time. He explained that the government has in the past, it has instituted lockdowns on specific communities that saw an increase in their cases.
The Government has made it clear that its position is to balance its response to the pandemic with the need for economic activity to continue.
