A 14-year-old boy from Matthew’s Ridge, North West District has been remanded to the Juvenile Detention Centre after being charged with the murder of his schoolmate.

The teenager appeared in Court on Tuesday and was charged with the June 27 murder of Joseph Bunbury.

According to reports, the accused was at a shop with a relative in the community when Bunbury approached him over a disagreement and the two got into a fight.

The older relative parted the two teenagers but moments later, the accused armed himself with a knife and repeatedly stabbed the teen, who was the aggressor.

It is alleged that the accused ran from the scene but he was eventually arrested and charged.

He will make his next Court appearance later this month.
