A 16-year-old boy who has emerged as the prime suspect in the shooting death of 10-year-old Anthony Cort during a home invasion and robbery will face the Court tomorrow to be charged with the murder.
The Guyana Police reported this evening that there is currently no one else in custody for the crime but the teenager is set to appear at the Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.
At least one other suspect is being sought. The Police Force said the arrest of the main suspect came as a result of information being received.
The 10-year-old boy, Anthony Cort was at the home of a Sophia businesswoman along with his mother when two armed bandits invaded the property and robbed the occupants of their money and jewellery.
The young boy was in the upper flat of the house and was shot by one of the bandits as he emerged from a room at the same time as the bandits were going to the upper flat.
The two armed men ran from the scene and the boy was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Family members are hoping for justice as they continue to mourn the death.
