18-year-old found murdered in suspected gang-related violence in Kaneville

Gang violence in the Kaneville community is being blamed for the death of an 18-year-old man.

The body of Wayne George Jr. was discovered this morning in a trench in the community with several marks of violence.

According to the dead man’s mother, Emmette George, she last saw her son alive on Monday night when he left their home for the Police station to file a report over threats and attacks on him.

The distraught woman said her son complained to her last evening that he was pelted with bricks and other bottles by suspected gang members on his way home.

He reportedly had an old grievance with some of the gang members and was regularly targeted by them.

“Last night when I come home from work, my son came and tell me that the people he had the story with, some girls and so they start pelt him with bottles in his back”, the mother recounted.

She said when she and an older brother left the house along with her son, he came under attack again and his mother encouraged him to go to the Police and file a complaint. When he left the house, she did not realise it was the last time that she would be seeing him alive.

The mother said it was not until this morning that she got the news that her son’s lifeless body had been found in a trench.

Persons in the Kaneville community believe they know some of the youths who may have been behind the attack that led to the teen’s death. The mother said she wants justice for her son and she is hoping that a proper investigation will be carried out by the Police.
