39-year-old, Kwame Bourne, who three years ago killed his 71-year-old father, Rickford Bourne, was sentenced to twenty years in jail today after entering a guilty plea to the unlawful killing charge.
Bourne appeared before Justice Navindra Singh and stated that he would like to become a better man and admitted to the unlawful killing charge.
The Judge accepted the guilty plea and said that the man has shown some signs of remorse. The sentence was handed down just after.
The younger Bourne and his father were involved in an argument over money when he armed himself with a metal bar and repeatedly lashed his father to the head. He reportedly wanted the father to give him money for his drug using habit.
The elderly man was taken to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries a few days later, leading to the charge being filed against the son.
