The Guyana Police Force today named Detective Sergeant Rodwell Sarrabo as its Best Cop for 2018
The Detective, who is attached to the CID Headquarters, was credited for his outstanding work in leading and assisting in solving several major murder cases and other investigations.
In accepting his award at the Police Force’s Annual Award Ceremony, the Best Cop said it was always a dream of his to become a member of the Guyana Police Force and since joining the Force, he has seen the results of his hard work and sleepless nights.
He told the officers gathered, that they all should push themselves to continue striving for excellence. “Dream Big”, he said as he warned however, that they should not mistaken movement for progress.
“Not because you are doing something, it means that you are getting something done. Because you can run a place all day and not go anywhere. So, don’t confuse movement with progress”.
He said he is passionate about being in the Guyana Police Force and will continue to be a dedicated officer. “One of the most selfish thing to do is to help another person. It is selfish because of the gratification and the joy that you feel from helping others. So my colleagues, remember, the light switch of a champion should always be on”.
Police Commissioner Leslie James, congratulated the Best Cop and the other awardees. He said in the new year, the Police Force will be boosting its criminal investigation efforts as the reform plan kicks in. The Commissioner also said that the Police Force intends to work closely with communities in the efforts to fight crime and that will make up part of its social crime programme.
Last week, the Police Force announced that serious crimes are down by 11% this year when compared to last year.
