A 36-year-old woman lost her life late last night at the corners of Princess and High Street, when she was hit down and crushed by a container truck. Police have identified the dead woman as Nina Williams.

A 24-year-old man who was driving the container truck at the time of the accident, has since been arrested.

A police report of the incident said the truck was being driven south along High street, while the woman was crossing from east to west. Eyewitnesses told investigators that as the woman was in the centre of the road, she ran into the path of the truck.

She was dragged along the roadway from the point of impact, resulting in her body being dismembered.

Emergency Medical Technicians were contacted, and pronounced the woman dead at the scene. A breathalyzer test was conducted on the driver, but there was no trace of alcohol in his system. He remains in custody assisting with the probe.
