42 COVID-19 deaths recorded since start of July

The Ministry of Health recorded three more COVID-19 related deaths yesterday with one of the latest victims being a 38-year-old man.

With Guyana still to confirm the presence of the fast-spreading Delta variant of the virus being here, the number of new infections continues to rise.

74 new cases of the virus were recorded yesterday as the death toll reached 518 with 42 of those deaths recorded in the past 21 days.

Regions 2 and 6 are now seeing a spike in new cases and residents are being encouraged to continue to follow the COVID-19 guidelines and protocols.

Regions 3 and 4 also continue to see a steady increase in new cases.

The Ministry of Health in an effort to get more persons vaccinated against the virus has started a house-to-house vaccination drive. This weekend medical officials are expected to visit a number of communities in an effort to get persons vaccinated.
