Three days after her son set fire to the bed she was sleeping on, a 73-year-old Annandale woman has died. The son is now likely to face a murder charge.
The incident took place on Christmas morning.
The woman, Mengree Dahri, was admitted to the hospital with severe burns about her body.
Investigators have revealed that the burns were as a result of her 43-year-old son, who is believed to be an alcohol addict, setting fire to her bed early on Christmas morning.
It was a neighbour who noticed smoke coming from the house on Christmas morning and on checking, noticed the woman lying on the burning bed.
An alarm was raised and neighbours rushed to her aid and got her to the hospital, where she was admitted in intensive care.
The son has since admitted to setting the bed on fire.
