Police investigators are probing the barbaric murder of an 86-year-old woman whose body was found in her Mon Repos apartment on Thursday.
The elderly woman, Agnes Dilon, was found in her bed with chop and stab wounds about her body.
The woman lived in the bottom flat of a two-story building, with the landlord living in the upper flat.
It was the landlord who became suspicious that something was wrong on Thursday when he called out to the woman several times and got no answer.
The landlord who is also an elderly person reached out to a neighbour and decided to break into the house.
In the house, their fears were confirmed when they came upon the woman’s lifeless body.
Police investigators were alerted. At the scene, the Police said chop wounds were noticed on the woman’s hands and face with stab wounds to her upper chest. Investigators believe that she may have been attacked by more than one person who got into her apartment.
The elderly woman was last seen alive on Wednesday afternoon.
