As the investigations get underway into Sunday’s plane crash that claimed the life of pilot, Imran Khan, the investigators are getting a closer look of the scene as they begin their probe.

Based on photographs from the scene of the wreckage, the small cessna aircraft is suspected of hitting a mountain in the Region Eight area before crashing through the heavy jungle.

The pilot’s body was discovered close to the wreckage on the ground. It is suspected that he may have been pitched from the aircraft and died immediately based on the impact.

Khan was heading to Mahdia from Chi-Chi, when all contact was lost.  The aircraft’s emergency locator transmitter sent out a signal that triggered the search and rescue efforts.

When the GDF’s Special Forces got to the scene of the crash, there was nothing more than debris and the pilot’s lifeless body.

Khan was a pilot for over 17 years and traversed the area regularly. He has never had any other major incident and was highly regarded as a very good pilot.

This latest crash, the third in less than a month, has triggered a call by government for more monitoring of the small domestic aircraft as well as better monitoring of the flying times of local pilots.
