An American Citizen has been arrested after he was busted at the Cheddi Jagan Airport with over 20 pounds of cocaine in milk powder that he had stashed in his suitcases. The bust was made by the Customs Anti Narcotics Unit late on Friday night.
The 28-year-old man was living in Guyana for a while and was about to board a Caribbean Airlines non-stop flight to New York when the cocaine was found. He was taken into custody and is believed to be assisting the investigators with their probe.
The name of the American has not been released but he is expected to face drug trafficking charges early in the new week.
As part of the same cocaine in milk powder probe, the Customs Anti Narcotics Unit on Saturday morning issued a wanted bulletin for a 24 year old East Coast Demerara man.
His name has been given as Mark Sauers of Beterverwaghting and Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara. It is also believed that he lived in Kwakwani.
CANU is asking for anyone with information about the whereabouts of Mark Sauers to call 227-3507.
