The Guyana Police Force is mourning the death of Assistant Police Commissioner Balram Persaud.
Mr. Persaud who was recovering from a horrible vehicular accident that took place two weeks ago, died early this morning in a city hospital. He had been listed in a critical and serious condition.
He has left to mourn his wife and children and other relatives.
The accident occurred close to the Demerara Harbour Bridge as the car he was travelling in suffered a blow out and toppled over into a pole.
He was pulled from the wreck and admitted to hospital with multiple injuries. He already had a heart condition so he was monitored closely by doctors.
He served the Guyana Police Force for several years and was preparing for his retirement later this year.
