Bandit known as “Pandit” dies after accidentally shot by other bandit
A 20-year-old man who was “accidentally shot” while he and another man were carrying out a robbery at Number 11 Village, Corentyne has died from his gunshot wound. The incident took place on Sunday evening.
The dead bandit has been as Avinash Rambazad, who was also known as “Pandit”. According to a Police report, “Pandit” and two other bandits who were all armed with handguns entered the Corentyne home of Rohan Doodnauth and his wife Renawattie and held the couple and one of their employees at gunpoint while demanding cash and other valuables.
“They demanded cash and valuables and some Jewellery were handed over. Not satisfied with the Jewellery, the men made more demands and threatened the victims, during which one of them discharged a round that struck one of his accomplices to the body.
Neighbouring residents responded, forcing the men to flee and leaving the wounded man behind”, the Police report said.
The wounded bandit who was left behind by his two accomplices was eventually taken to the New Amsterdam Hospital, where he passed away early on Monday morning while receiving treatment for his gunshot wound.
The identity of the getaway duo is still to be confirmed and released by the Police.
