After first suspecting a murder/suicide, the Guyana Police Force has now ruled the deaths of a Corentyne husband and wife as a double murder.

Tain couple Parbatie Vyraum and Ramdat Persaud were found early this morning in their home. The wife was found with multiple stab wounds to the body while the husband was found lying on the floor. In a statement this afternoon, the police said the investigations are now centered on a double murder. Both were stabbed to death.

“Post mortem examinations done by Pathologist Dr. Vivkanand Brijmohan have revealed that both persons died from hemorrhage and shock due to incised wounds”, the police statement revealed.

Additionally, Ramdat Persaud had sustained an injury to his head.

Police investigators are now reporting that a man who formerly shared a relationship with the woman has been arrested and is in police custody assisting with the investigations.
