Police in Berbice are probing the murder of an 18-year-old man in the Corentyne area and two other teenagers are the main suspect.

The dead man, Keon Byass, was attacked and chopped about his body on Easter Monday morning while making his way home from a nearby shop. 

He passed away on Tuesday in the hospital without ever regaining consciousness.

Persons in the area told investigators that Byass was suddenly attacked by two teens who were armed with cutlasses.  Despite his attempt to run from them, he was chased down and chopped repeatedly to the body until he fell to the ground.

The assailants were known to the victim and there are reports that he may have had a conflict with them sometime back.

Investigations have been launched.
