Blue Caps to hold emergency board meeting after Urling resigns

Board members of the non-governmental organisation Blue Caps are expected to host an emergency meeting on Tuesday following the Monday resignation of its Chairman Clinton Urling.

Urling’s resignation as Chairman of the group came as a shocking surprise to the board members who first learnt of his decision to walk away from the top position when they received an email from him outlining his desire to no longer serve as the group’s Chairman.

One Blue Cap member said the board was left “dumbfounded” since it was not a move they were expecting at this time. The emergency meeting is expected to appoint a new Chairman and plan a new road ahead for the group.

It is widely believed that Urling is getting ready to join forces with one of the major political parties getting ready to contest the May 11 elections or endorse one of the candidates for the Presidency.

There are reports that he has been in talks with at least one of the political parties contesting the elections and had even dispatched a programme of what he would want to see in a new government and the role he would want to play in that new government.

Urling is widely respected among youth leaders and in the business community. He served for a number of years as the President of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry and in 2014 he formed the Blue Caps organisation to push for the hosting of local government elections and changes within the nation’s governance structure.

His organisation has come under constant criticism from the governing People’s Progressive Party/Civic. Just recently he hosted APNU Leader David Granger and AFC Vice Chairman Moses Nagamootoo to Blue Cap conversations with members of the organisation.

Those conversation programmes took place before the APNU and AFC announced their coalition for the May 11, 2015 elections.
