The Foreign Minister of Brazil will make an official visit to Guyana next week in an effort to further strengthen ties between the two neighbouring countries in a number of areas.
According to Brazil’s Ambassador to Guyana, Lineu Pupo De Paula, the visit of the Foreign Minister, Mauro Vieira, and his meeting with Guyana government officials should enhance collaboration between the two countries in areas such as military and technical cooperation.
The meeting will also focus on issues relating to the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR) and other regional mechanisms, to which both countries are party.
The Brazilian Ambassador to Guyana met with President Granger today and briefed him on the plans for the visit. The Ambassador said “we have a lot of things happening. Today there is a border meeting happening in the Lethem-Bom Fim area with huge delegations from both sides”.
He added that this engagement, along with the one that is scheduled for next week, is extremely important for both Guyana and Brazil.
