The Government of Guyana is getting set to announce salary increases for public servants on Thursday.
News Source understands that those public servants working for the minimum wage to $99,999 per month will enjoy a 9% salary increase.
Public servants earning between $100,000 to $999,000 per month will enjoy an 8.5% increase and those making over $1 million per month will get a 3% increase.
All of the increases will be retroactive to January 2019 and will also be tax free.
The official announcement is expected to be made by the Ministry of the Presidency soon.
Appearing on the Voice of Guyana this morning, Finance Minister Winston Jordan announced that the minimum wage in the public sector will be increased to $70,000 per month and this represents a 9% increase over the current minimum wage and an over 70% increase since the APNU+AFC coalition took office 4 and a half years ago.
