In a statement issued through the Department of Public Information, it was indicated that prior to this departure from Guyana on Sunday, the Vice President tested negative and showed no symptoms of the virus.

Vice President Bharrat Jagdeo, who is currently part of a high-level government visit to Washington DC has tested positive for COVID-19.

In a statement issued through the Department of Public Information, it was indicated that prior to his departure from Guyana on Sunday, the Vice President tested negative and showed no symptoms of the virus.

President Irfaal Ali and the other members of his delegation have tested negative for the virus.

The statement did not indicate whether the Vice President is currently experiencing any symptoms of the virus.

The President and other members of his delegation will continue with the remainder of the agenda during the visit as the Vice President isolates.

The statement said the delegation has already completed a number of successful engagements over the past two days, including meetings with US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken; Deputy Secretary of Commerce, Don Graves, and US Business Leaders and Government Officials. The Vice President attended all of those meetings.

The Vice President is fully vaccinated and boosted against the virus, according to DPI.
