Bus driver remanded to jail for alleged rape of disabled young woman

At the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court this morning, a Timehri/Georgetown mini-bus driver

was remanded to jail after being charged with the rape of a 21-year-old disabled woman.

The accused, 44-year-old, Sherwin Reynolds is from the Plaisance area. He was represented by Attorney Stanley Moore.

The Court was told that on the 19th April 2018, the man allegedly sexually penetrated the woman without her consent.

Reports suggest that on the day in question, the woman was a passenger of the man’s mini-bus and was on her way to Timehri, when it is alleged the man took a different route and raped the woman.

The Court was told that the woman reported the incident to her family once she got home.  An investigation was launched with the accused being arrested recently.

At today’s hearing, the man was not required to enter a plea to the indictable charge and  did not appear too bothered as he was told that he would be remanded to jail.

The matter will come up again on the 10th October.
