Canadian Authorities bust over 175 lbs cocaine on cargo vessel from Guyana

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the Canada Border Services Agency have announced that during joint forces operation on the 17th September, 81 kilos of cocaine was found and seized at the Port of Valleyfield in Canada aboard a cargo vessel that had arrived from Guyana.

Two persons have been charged in Canada in connection with a major drug bust that is linked to Guyana.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the Canada Border Services Agency have announced that during joint forces operation on the 17th September, 81 kilos of cocaine was found and seized at the Port of Valleyfield in Canada aboard a cargo vessel that had arrived from Guyana.

The vessel, Jacqueline C, is suspected to have left Guyana from Linden.

According to the Canadian authorities, the drug was concealed in the hold of the vessel. It was reportedly being monitored and after its arrival at the port, the crew members were searched then a thorough search of the ship was conducted. The cocaine was found stashed in bags in the hold of the ship.

Four people were initially arrested, two of whom were charged with conspiracy to import drug for the purpose of trafficking.

The two who have been charged have been identified as 36-year-old Roldan De Gorio Tito and 48-year-old Nazir Ahmad Hussain.

Hussain is believed to be a Guyanese national.

The investigation is ongoing and the Canadian authorities believe that the seized drug was heading for the Toronto and Vancouver markets.
