Two weeks after an American man and a Guyanese woman were busted at the Cheddi Jagan Airport with cocaine stashed in packets of achar, a Canadian citizen has been arrested after she tried to ferry cocaine out of Guyana in the same manner.
Agents of the Customs Anti Narcotics Unit on Wednesday busted the 24 year old Canadian with a quantity of cocaine stashed in achar in her suitcases. She was immediately arrested and transferred to the CANU headquarters for questioning.
The bust was made just after 5 am on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 as the woman was getting ready to board a Canada bound flight.
Her arrest comes just three days after a Guyanese woman was busted at the same Cheddi Jagan Airport when she tried to ferry out close to five pounds of cocaine in bottles of cream liqueur. She appeared in Court on Tuesday and was remanded to prison.
Meanwhile, the Customs Anti Narcotics Unit is still looking for a couple in connection with the earlier busts of cocaine in achar at the airport.
