The Customs Anti Narcotics Unit carried out an intelligence led operation this morning at an unfinished house in Premniranjan Place in the Prashad Nagar community, and discovered a 7.62 assault rifle along with two large parcels of cocaine. The cocaine weighed just over five pounds.

Two persons who were at the unfinished property were taken into custody.

The house is reportedly owned by a Campbellville businessman. Checks were made at the businessman’s Campbellville house, but he could not be located.

News Source understands that the businessman has been on the radar of the Customs Anti Narcotics Unit for more than a year, and he is suspected to be on the radar of at least two other international drug enforcement agencies.

The probe by CANU is ongoing.
