Well known bar owner, Clyde Barrett aka “Clydie” is in the custody of the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit and is facing drug trafficking charges.
The city businessman was arrested today along Avenue of the Republic in Georgetown after his car was intercepted by CANU agents and more than 25 pounds of marijuana was found in the vehicle.
CANU said Barrett was the driver and sole occupant of the car when the bust was made. The marijuana was discovered in several large parcels in a large bag.
Barrett was arrested and taken to CANU headquarters where he was told of the offence and the possible charges.
He remains in custody as investigations continue into the latest bust.
CANU has been stepping up its operations to root out drug trafficking in communities across the country.
The agency seized thousands of pounds of marijuana last year.
