Chase-Green warns new Mayor of “wolves in sheep clothing”

The outgoing Mayor of Georgetown, Patricia Chase-Greene, today threw her full support behind her party comrade and successor, Ubraj Narine, but also offered him some advice and warning.

Ms. Chase-Green told the incoming Mayor that having served on the Council for over two decades, with two and a half of those years as the Mayor, she would like him to be careful and mindful of all the people he will have to deal with as Mayor, including some of those around the council table.

She told the Mayor “I would advise you that not every smile, that every skin teeth is laugh and not every shut eye is sleep and there are many wolves in sheep clothing. I tell you that from experience. You will sit around a horse shoe table with twenty-nine other people and you will gain your experience daily”.

She said she stands to support the new Mayor 100% as he begins his reign on the Council.

The Mayor said she is proud that the PNC and APNU are all about youth empowerment. She slammed down talk about why she would have entered the race for Council again, explaining that she still enjoys the confidence and support of her Constituency and was able to pull the highest number of votes in Georgetown for all the constituencies.

The Mayor also spoke about the just concluded local government elections and the campaign that led to the elections. She said while she was targeted by other parties, she was the Mayor of a Council and was a representative of a Council. She said she has no regrets of her service as Mayor because she would have served to the best of her ability.

She told the new incoming Mayor that the office of Mayor is now open to him and she will offer all of her support during the transition period.

Chase-Green had been strongly criticised for her leadership of the Council over the past two years, but she has always maintained that her actions mirrored the approval of the Council she served.
