The Guyana Police Force has announced that it has dismantled a criminal network with the arrest of three Chinese nationals who it is suspected, were linked to gold smuggling and money laundering.
In a statement last evening, the Police explained that the three were arrested during an inter-agency intelligence operation at a city hotel.
According to the Police, the operation led to the seizure of G$39 million in cash along with an unlicensed 9mm pistol with fifteen matching rounds of ammunition.
The Police said its investigations have so far revealed that the suspects are part of a transnational criminal group involved in gold smuggling and other illegal activities.
No other details about the three Chinese nationals and the alleged criminal network were provided. A woman is among the three suspects arrested.
