Cyril’s Transportation owner arrested for opening fire at vehicle he mistook for one of his

The owner of Cyril’s Transportation Service, Muishankar Persaud, was arrested by the Police last week after he reportedly opened fire on a vehicle, believing that the vehicle might have been one that was apparently stolen from his company.

Although the incident took place almost two weeks ago, the Police only provided information on it today after being questioned by reporters.

The Police said on the afternoon of the 2nd December at the corner of Durey Lane and Lamaha Streets, the businessman whipped out his licensed firearm and fired a shot to the back of the vehicle, hitting one of the wheels and forcing the driver to stop.

The Police said the businessman has claimed that two of his Toyota Prado vehicles were stolen earlier in the year and have never been recovered. He said that on the day in question, he received information that a vehicle fitting the description of one that was allegedly stolen was spotted in the Lamaha Street area.

Persaud admitted to investigators that he tracked down the vehicle and discharged a shot at it when he noticed it along Lamaha Street.

He said when he approached the vehicle, he recognised the driver and then realised that the vehicle was not one that was stolen from him.

The vehicle reportedly belongs to the ExxonMobil company and is used for transporting one of the company’s top executives. It is unclear whether the company official was in the vehicle at the time.

News Source understands that since the incident, the ExxonMobil company has banned the businessman from accessing any of their properties and his contract with the company may now be in jeopardy.

The Police report stated that a spent shell was discovered at the scene and the businessman was forced to lodge his firearm as he is assisting with the investigations that are ongoing.
