The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport has announced that the registration period for this year’s Mashramani Song competitions has been extended.
The original deadline was December 31, 2023, but the registration period will now continue until the 8th January, 2024.
The Culture Ministry through the National Mashramani Committee, will be hosting the Junior and Senior Calypso and Soca Monarch competitions, the Adult Chutney Competition and a Dancehall Song Competition.
It will be the first time that a Dancehall music competition will be hosted as part of the Mashramani celebrations.
The song competitions are likely to take place in the month of February. A number of artistes have already submitted entries for the various competitions. Former soca monarch, Jumo Primo, is expected to make his debut in the calypso competition this year.
