Development of Ansa McAl’s Chateau Margot Mall on track for 2027 completion

The development of the US$50 million Chateau Margot Mall and Lifestyle Centre is now more than half way complete just one year after construction broke ground along Guyana’s East Coast Demerara corridor.

The ANSA McAL Group said today that the development is currently 55% complete and remains firmly on track for a scheduled completion in 2027.

Located approximately 15 km from Central Georgetown and nestled beside the iconic Chateau Margot Chimney, the development will offer approximately 120,000 sq. ft. of space for retail, dining and service providers. Structural works are well advanced across the site, and the project is creating hundreds of construction and permanent jobs.

The company said the Mall exemplifies how its real estate sector partners with clients to bring visionary developments to life, from concept, feasibility studies and land acquisition, to design, financing, construction, marketing and sales.

“Reaching the halfway mark is a proud moment for everyone working on this project. Every stage, from feasibility and design to construction, has been about delivering a space that works for tenants, for shoppers and for the communities around it. We are building something that will serve the East Coast for decades to come,” Mr. Joseph Rahael, Sector Head, Real Estate, ANSA McAL Limited was quoted as saying in a release.

Beyond its retail and entertainment offerings, the mall will include premium office space for rent and nearly 500 parking spaces.

“Guyanese can see this project taking shape every day along the East Coast. It reflects our confidence in Guyana’s future and our commitment to growing alongside the people we serve. We look forward to welcoming families, entrepreneurs and communities through our doors in 2027,” Mr. Troy Cadogan, ANSA McAL Country Head, Guyana & Suriname added.

The group said a signature feature of the development is the preservation of the historic Chateau Margot Chimney. In partnership with the National Trust of Guyana, ANSA McAL is restoring and maintaining the chimney as a cultural and community landmark.
