In an effort to recognise the dedication and hard work of Police Officers, Teachers and Nurses in Guyana, Ansa McAl Guyana Limited has unveiled its Award Programme for Public Servants.

The initiative forms part of the company’s 25th Anniversary celebrations. It will see the associations representing the three category of public servants, submitting 11 nominations each from across the country. An independent judging panel will decide on the winner.

The top performer in each category will be rewarded with a $500,000 cheque. The other 10 finalists  in each category will receive $50,000 each.

Managing Director of Ansa McAL Guyana, Troy Cadogan, told a Thursday morning press conference that no one in Guyana could doubt Ansa McAl’s commitment to the public. He noted that the company has always been at the forefront of giving back to customers, and this new initiative will continue that trend.

Mr. Cadogan explained that the award scheme will be an annual one to not only recognise high achievers in the three public service categories, but to also encourage other public servants to aim higher in the performance of their duties.

“We see ourselves as promoting excellence and we want to see ensure that these three professions are recognised in a tangible way. The goal here is to recognise and support the contributions of public servants. I am hoping that it raises the bar within those professions”, Cadogan said.

Representatives of the Ministry of Education and the Guyana Teachers Union, who attended the launch, praised the company for its “bold” initiative.

They explained that they believe it will encourage growth and development for many in the public service.

Meanwhile, the Ansa McAl company also announced today that it will be developing the seawall area close to the East Coast Demerara arch into a promenade and relaxation park. A design has already been completed and the area will see lights and chairs added.

The company donated the arch earlier this year as part of Guyana’s independence jubilee celebrations. Over $20 million was spent on the arch’s construction and installation.
