Speaking to media operatives this morning during the offloading of the ballot at GECOM, the Chief Elections Officer, Keith Lowenfield said that 10,226 ballots will be extracted for voting by the Disciplined Services.

Disciplined Services to vote on 21st February

The Guyana Elections Commission today announced that members of the Joint Services will be casting their ballots on the 21st of February, one week before the rest of the country heads to the polls for the regional and national elections.

Speaking to media operatives this morning during the offloading of the ballot at GECOM, the Chief Elections Officer, Keith Lowenfield said that 10,226 ballots will be extracted for voting by the Disciplined Services.

“We are extracting them today and we will be enveloping those for the Disciplined Services”, he said.

The Chief Elections Officer also revealed today that the ballots for those Guyanese working at Missions abroad will be extracted and placed in envelopes to be sent to the various missions.

The ballots arrived in the country early this morning aboard a special chartered flight. Scrutineers from the various parties were invited to observe the arrival and offloading of the ballots. The printing of the ballots in Canada was observed by two Commissioners.

The Elections Commission has announced that all plans are moving apace with preparations for the elections.
